Yandoo Detroit (Lionel) is a handsome and talented competitor by the superstar showjumper Caracas out of showjumping/eventing mare Yandoo Cleopatra. Lionel was bred in the purple and has lived up to all expectations!

Lionel was professionally schooled as a young horse and has an excellent all round education. He is soft, adjustable and straightforward to compete. Lionel has successfully competed up to 1.25 and has recently placed up to 1.05 - including a 5th place at the 2024 Australian Showjumping Championships. He is easily training 1.30+ at home, he is happy jumping the lower heights with an amateur or junior, with scope to go further in the right hands. Lionel has happily competed at all of the big venues and is completely unconcerned about the noise and chaos of Ag Shows. He went schooling cross country last weekend for the first time ever - over a  1* course - and loved it!

Lionel is not only beautiful enough for the show ring but he is easy to ride on the flat. He is training elementary level dressage with established flying changes and all lateral work. Lionel has successfully competed in the hack ring, where he won everything he went in, including Champion Hack and the Memorial Award for overall performance and impression across all exhibits.

Lionel is 100% safe to ride and handle and is vice free. He is not fazed by a busy environment or loud noises and is a bold ride under saddle in the ring - don’t be put off by the ‘Hidez’ hood, it's just a fashion statement! Lionel will happily trail ride all day and is well exposed to traffic, livestock and busy stable yards. 

Lionel self loads into the truck/ float and is easy to shoe. However, he does need a capable handler as he is a big horse. Lionel is fed an ulcer prevention supplement. Although he has sidebone, which was found on his pre-purchase exam, it has not and will not affect his performance.

Lionel is very sadly for sale as his owner/ rider has permanently injured her hand.

Lionel would suit either a capable amateur or an experienced young rider for dressage, showing, showjumping or eventing. His ’wow factor’ making him an ideal choice for someone looking for a well educated and talented competition horse!
