Genuine schoolmaster and true all-rounder
Safe, forgiving and ideal ‘return to riding’ mount
Established dressage education with Elementary foundations
Introduction: Cleopatra ST, affectionately known as “Cleo,” is a genuine all-rounder and quality schoolmaster with a particular focus on dressage. Standing at 16.1hh, this Clydesdale x Appaloosa mare offers three correct paces, a lovely temperament under saddle and a straightforward, forgiving ride. Cleo would suit a rider seeking a second horse or schoolmaster, an adult riding club or pony club mount, or someone returning to riding who values safety, education and reliability. She is reluctantly for sale, and the perfect home for this beautiful mare is of the utmost importance.
Education, skills and experience: Cleo has been correctly educated, with the majority of her training focused on dressage. She has competed to Novice Dressage and has the majority of her Elementary buttons established, making her a wonderful partner for a rider wishing to progress through the dressage grades. She is currently in full work, understands her job and remains consistent and reliable, even with time off.
Cleo has three correct, balanced paces and works willingly into the bridle. She is soft, light and responsive, with a calm and trainable attitude. Her established dressage education, combined with her forgiving nature, makes her ideal for junior, amateur or adult riders wanting to compete at lower to mid levels. Cleo is also a very attractive mare who cleans up well and presents beautifully for showing.
Showjumping: While jumping has not been her primary focus in recent years, Cleo is happy to pop over a jump or two and has been confidently schooled over cavalettis and small fences. She is honest, willing and sensible, making her suitable for low-level jumping, pony club and allrounder activities.
General Riding: Cleo is excellent on trail rides and thoroughly enjoys being out of the arena. She loves the water and happily swims in dams and rivers. She is unfazed by farm life, including tractors, trucks, motorbikes and livestock, and is relaxed and sensible in new environments. She has previously attended shows, fun days and outings and is the same horse away from home as she is at home.
General demeanor under saddle: Cleo is straightforward, calm and forgiving to ride. She adapts well to the confidence and ability of her rider and is safe for novices under instruction while still being educated enough to suit a more experienced rider. She is generally more “woah than go,” but willingly steps up when asked to. Cleo willingly collects and responds softly to the aids. She has never bucked, bolted or done anything to make a rider feel unsafe and is tolerant of rider mistakes.
Current workload/ fitness: Cleo is currently in full work and ridden three or more times per week. She does not require lunging or an extensive warm up and remains reliable and well behaved even with time off.
Handling and general behaviour: Cleo is easy to catch, wash and manage. She ties up happily, is good for the farrier and vet, and travels well on the float, though she may occasionally need encouragement to load. On the ground, Cleo can be pushy in a friendly way and she responds best to a confident handler or a less confident handler, with some support. She is not marey under saddle and does not have any vices.
Feeding and management: Cleo is a good doer and thrives on a simple diet. She is currently fed teff hay with a small amount of pellets and does best without multiple feeds and supplements. Her management is flexible, and she can be kept in a paddock on her own or within a herd environment.
Medical history: Cleo is sound and up to date with all veterinary, dental, and farrier work. Past X-rays are available and vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability: Confident Novice (under instruction) to Intermediate Rider defined as someone who has been riding regularly for at least three years, has an independent seat and hands, and can walk, trot and canter confidently. Cleo would suit a junior rider (13 ), amateur adult rider or someone returning to riding who is seeking a safe, educated and enjoyable partner.
Reason for sale: Cleo is a much-loved mare, offered for sale due to her owner seeking a smaller horse. This is a genuine sale, and the right home is far more important than a quick sale.
