Tyra is an absolute superstar school master show horse, ‘stock horse’ and ‘pony club’ allrounder. She is a stunning, beautifully moving horse that is also completely safe and trustworthy. Tyra has been owned and produced by her amateur owner since the age of 5 apart from a two year period of ownership with a teenage rider. This is a very sad sale due to lack of time and other commitments. These safe and sound schoolmaster horses are few and far between - especially in this prized ‘galloway’ size.
Education and experience: Tyra is the ultimate show horse - she is a highly decorated Large Hunter Galloway with many Supreme and Champion Led and Ridden titles to her name. She has also won Horse Of The Year titles - both EA and SHC - and Top10 at Grand Nationals and EA Nationals! Tyra is the wonderful rider class mount for any rider, including juniors!
She has competed at major venues, remaining reliable and confident at all times. Tyra has all the ‘tricks’! Her ride-ability is unmatched with easy lateral work and consistent paces. She is naturally light in the bridle, working in an easy and consistent contact at all times.
Tyra is the same at home, as she is at competitions, whether outdoors or indoors. She is very calm and reliable having been produced by an adult amateur, as well as competed by juniors.
Tyra has benefited from exposure to life outside of ‘being a show horse’, trail riding, doing low level jumps, schooling cross country, and spending years mustering in the Kimberley in WA (Horse Deals see article). She has been given time to mature and develop at an appropriate and healthy pace while staying healthy and sound.
Tyra likes to do a variety of work, is safe on the trail and being ridden bareback. She is not concerned by busy roads, children, or farm life - tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock, dogs or other pets.
General demeanour under saddle: Tyra is responsive and willing. She is soft and 'light' in the bridle and willingly 'collects'. Tyra works in a consistent contact in both a snaffle and double bridle. She is tolerant of rider mistakes and is straightforward enough for capable amateur or young riders to enjoy and compete.
Current workload/ fitness: Tyra is not currently in work due to her owners other commitments (hence price) but doesn’t need to be ‘bought back into work’ - she can just be caught, saddled and hopped on. She does not need to be ridden regularly to be safe and her behaviour is not affected by a spell. Tyra does not require lunging or working down after a spell or at a competition.
General behaviour and handling: Tyra is a pleasure in every way - super safe, reliable and is well mannered on the ground as well as under saddle. She is safe for junior and even child handlers. Tyra is easy to catch, lead and handle - for farrier, picking out feet, grooming and washing. Tyra loads into float and truck very easily, stands quietly when travelling and unloads calmly. She is easy and calm to clip.
Behaviour: Tyra is a confidence builder and a true schoolmistress who is safe for novice riders under instruction - she even gives pony rides to children! Tyra is absolutely safe with no spook, buck, bolt or rear. She is always 100% reliable, predictable and safe.
Feeding and management: Tyra is an easy doer. She is currently on grass only but is given a simple hard feed when in full work.
Medical history: Tyra is 100% sound and without issues. She has never been vet checked but her owner’s welcome any exam.
Rider Suitability: While safe for a novice rider, Tyra’s owner feels that an intermediate rider who can ride her effectively will be the best fit.
Tyra is a chunky build and despite being a smidgen under 15hh, can take a taller rider.
Ideal home:
A long term home with a junior or an adult rider who will:
love her and enjoy her;
keep her at home with them; and
give her a variety of work.
Please note that:
Tyra does not have to go to a competition home, a pleasure riding or pony club home that otherwise ticks all the boxes is very acceptable.
Reason for sale: Tyra is extremely reluctantly for sale as her owner has a full time business, another competition horse in work and she doesn’t have the capacity to have more than one horse in work.
