Introduction: Bellhaven Coverboy, known as Monte, is a 7-year-old bay Warmblood gelding by Numuro Uno out of a Monte Bellini mare, standing approximately 17.3hh. He is a quality young performance horse with a solid education and proven ability across eventing and showjumping. He is a modern, athletic type with scope and presence.

Education, skills and experience: Monte is a well-educated gelding with competition experience across both eventing and showjumping. He has competed successfully winning at 1* eventing level and straight dressage competitions with scores up to 77%. He has also showjumped up to 120cm. While dressage is not his preferred phase, he is capable and established on the flat. He is also experienced in trail riding and is well exposed, showing no concern for dogs, livestock or general farm machinery.

General demeanour under saddle: Under saddle, Monte is generally calm and reliable, although not completely unflappable. He is tolerant of rider mistakes and is particularly rideable to a fence, showing confidence and consistency in his jumping phases. He is a genuine and straightforward horse to ride.

Current workload / fitness: Monte is currently in work and is being ridden three or more times per week while actively competing. He does not require regular riding to remain reliable and is considered safe to hop on after a spell.

Handling: Monte is easy to catch and safe to handle, wash, groom, lead and saddle. He ties up calmly, loads and travels well, stands quietly and unloads without issue. He is reliable for the farrier and vet. He is very straightforward but does require a capable handler due to his size.

Behaviour: Monte’s only quirk is being occasionally horse shy at competitions, which continues to improve with experience and exposure.

Feeding and management: Monte currently paddocked alone and has access to ad lib hay and is hard feed once daily.

Medical history: Monte has no current or past medical issues. He has never been vetted or x-rayed. He is given 4Cyte as a preventative measure and is up to date with dental, vaccinations and shoeing. A vet check is welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability: Monte is best suited to a capable rider and would particularly suit a young rider or adult rider working under regular professional instruction. He is a large, quality horse who benefits from a confident and capable rider.

Reason for sale: Monte is offered for sale as the owner has 12 horses in work and needing to make room. He is ideally suited to a long-term home looking to compete in either showjumping or eventing and continue his progress.
