Introduction: Benson’s Verismo, known as Jet, is a 12-year-old bay gelding standing approximately 17.2hh with EA Life registration. He is a well-educated and experienced performance horse with a strong showjumping background up to 1.40m, now offered as a versatile and capable partner for a variety of pursuits. Jet presents as a quality, established horse with a kind nature and a solid foundation.

Education, skills and experience: Jet is a well-schooled horse with extensive competition experience, having competed and placed at state level and previously jumping up to 1.40m Grand Prix level, with training to 1.50m. While he is no longer suited to top-level showjumping, he has established dressage foundations, with expressive movement and correct way of going. He is experienced in trail riding and lunging, and is well exposed to farm environments, showing no concern for machinery, livestock or dogs.

General demeanour under saddle: Under saddle, Jet is a genuine, rideable and adaptable horse who puts in as much effort as required by his rider. He is soft and light in the bridle, willingly collects and is tolerant of rider mistakes. He is non-reactive in most situations and adjusts well to the competence and confidence of his rider, making him suitable for a range of riders seeking a safe and educated mount.

Current workload / fitness: Jet is currently in work and being ridden three or more times per week. He does not require regular riding to remain safe and reliable, making him a practical and low-maintenance option for many riders.

Handling: Jet is easy to handle and well mannered in all routine situations. He is easy to catch, calm and unflappable, leads quietly, ties up without fuss, loads and travels well and is easy to wash. He is reliable for the farrier and good for the vet. He is tolerant of handler mistakes. Due to his size, he does require a larger angle load float or truck for transport.

Behaviour: Jet is a sensible and reliable horse both in and out of work, with no vices or behavioural quirks. He is straightforward to manage and presents as a calm and consistent horse in a variety of environments.

Feeding and management:  Jet is currently fed oaten chaff, Pegasus Liberty at approximately 2kg per day, lucerne chaff and has access to a hay roll in the paddock. He can be kept in a herd situation, on his own or in a combination of stabling and paddock environments, making him adaptable to different management systems.

Medical history: Jet has low-level shivers, which does not affect his performance under saddle but does require a patient farrier when shoeing his hind legs. He was last vaccinated in 2025 for tetanus, his dental was completed in May 2025 and will be updated prior to sale, and he is currently shod. A vet check is welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability:  Jet is best suited to an intermediate rider and would suit a young rider, amateur adult or mature rider looking for a safe, educated and experienced horse. He is a particularly appealing option for someone wanting to enjoy dressage, low-level jumping or general riding on a well-schooled horse.

Reason for sale:  Jet is offered for sale as he is no longer suited to top-level showjumping. He is ideally suited to a home where his education and experience can be enjoyed in a lower-level performance or pleasure setting.
