Champagne taste on a beer budget

Being offered for sale out of work, price will increase in a few weeks once sent off to be bought back into work professionally. A great opportunity for a rider with a smaller budget to purchase a serious jumping horse.

Hamish is a big scopey horse with lots of enthusiasm for life. He is always the first to greet you at the gate and loves to be involved.

Under saddle he requires a rider who is experienced with these athletic types and will be patient with him whilst giving him confidence. He is a powerful and busy guy, but has come in to his own balance well as he has gotten older. He has jumped up to 1.10m with me, but will need more miles at the lower heights to be less exuberant over the fences.

He can be sensitive and have big feelings at times, so is best suited to a professional or very capable amateur/YR with professional guidance and ability to manage quirks in return for massive talent. I have had a lot of fun with him, but I have come to the realisation that I no longer have the ambition to jump big or ride powerful scopey horses. Not suitable as a first big horse or horse to step up onto.

Hamish travels well on trucks and floats (straight and angles), he is easy to clip, easy to catch, highly food motivated. I have not hacked him out much as all of our trails lead to the highway, but I have ponied him off my quieter horses and he has enjoyed it.

We purchased Hamish directly from his breeder at 5 years old and have adored the journey with him - I so wish I enjoyed jumping him as much as he does. He has been bought on slow with breaks to be allowed to mature, the last time he was in work I was really excited by how he felt. Please do not enquire if you are not a Showjumping home. If he enjoyed life on the flat, I would be keeping him.

He has been spelled for the past year and a bit as life circumstances have left me with not much time to ride. Hamish thrives under routine and I have not been able to offer this to him.
