Brave and willing to jump

Safe, sound and kind

Introduction: Equineaffair Harlequin (Jackie) is a fabulous schoolmaster who has proven herself, time and time again, over the last five years with her current owner/ rider, since her rider was only 12 years old! She has competed successfully at National level five times in eventing, dressage and showjumping! Jackie has proven herself to be reliable, safe, kind, talented and sound.

Jackie is very reluctantly for sale as her rider is entering Year 12 and has a 3* horse to concentrate on and progress through the levels. She is ideal for a confident and keen young rider seeking a safe and competitive horse for a variety of disciplines.

Education, skills and experience: Jackie is a pleasure to ride - she always aims to please and does what is required. She is a performance horse that is willing and responsive - rather than being a plodder. Jackie is ridden in a snaffle in all phases but isn’t offended by a different bit.

On the flat, Jackie produces a lovely accurate dressage test. She is responsive and accurate, without being sharp. Jackie willingly collects and is generally happy and consistent in the contact.

Jackie has competed successfully from EVA65 to 1* level and B grade Show Jumping. She is honest and brave - she willingly jumps anything. Jackie is tolerant of a ‘miss’ and a rider who lacks the perfect eye for a distance. She has scope, is adjustable and responsive.

Jackie is 2025 National and State Interschool Combined Training Reserve Champion.

General demeanor under saddle:  Jackie is as honest as the day is long. She is a lovely horse to ride. Jackie has a fun, eager to please personality and always tries her best.

Jackie does not buck, bolt, rear or have any dangerous vices. However, for the sake of full disclosure - she can sometimes be inconsistent in the bridle; a few times a year, Jackie may pigroot in dressage if she gets mixed signals; and she can occasionally rush after an extended canter. This behaviour is because Jackie is a performance horse, she has ‘blood’ and she knows and loves her job. The occasional pigroot in dressage is offset by her willingness, ability and safety when jumping.

Jackie is not worried by children, pets or farm life, trucks, tractors, mowers, cattle and dogs. She is willing and happy to ride out on her own, even on trails and roads.

Current workload/ fitness: Jackie is in work and is currently competing. She does not need regular riding to be safe.

Handling and general behaviour: Jackie is easy to catch, saddle, groom, wash, travel (load, float, unload), shoe, clip and handle for veterinary or dental care. Her owners use a worming ‘bit’ to worm her. Jackie is a fuss free mare who is well mannered on the ground and under saddle.

Feeding and management: Jackie is a good doer - currently fed a very small hard feed once a day,  lucerne chaff, Supreme and Breed N Gro. She is fed lucerne hay in winter and at competitions.

Medical history: Jackie has some small scars that do not affect performance and are not ‘ugly’. She does not have any medical or management issues. Jackie is up to date with dental and vaccinations. Her owners are happy for potential buyers to do a full vetting.

Rider Suitability: Jackie has a heart of gold and will continue to thrive with a kind, intermediate rider and above.

Ideal home: With a confident young eventer or show jumper who is coming off a  competitive pony, looking to get their first horse to take up the levels.  Jackie is an amazing jumper and will work hard to keep her rider safe, adding strides or taking a  long spot when needed. Her dressage is solid and she is responsive to her rider's aids.

Reason for sale:  Jackie is very reluctantly for sale as her rider is entering Year 12 and is focused on her 3* horse. She is very much loved and only for sale to the best of homes.
