Genuine and kind natured 5yo mare OTT

Dance with Mia, "Mia" is a 5yo brown mare OTT.

Mia retired from racing in October 2024, I took her on to give her a chance at finding her forever home that she deserves.

Mia retired from racing due to a previous wind operation and wasn't able to maintain her racing career - she is sound, just a few old lumps and bumps from racing career (old splints etc) so wouldn't suit higher level competing.

After retirement Mia has had a good spell and has been ridden OTT many times in the arena and out on trail rides.

She spent 4 weeks at Equis Lodge in Boolarra (Victoria) doing some retraining to help her let down after racing. Here she went out on trail rides where she demonstrated her bravery riding out front, with other horses and solo.

Mia has also had many rides in the arena where she has demonstrated working nice in a frame however is still learning so needs to be paired with someone who is familiar with younger thoroughbreds off the track.

Mia is happy riding solo and with other horses, she is currently on a racehorse agistment where she has been ridden around the property solo, her highlight is remaining calm when the other racehorses run around silly, chasing the fence etc. Again, she needs a confident rider to give the right cues and directions in order for her to not become anxious in these moments. When she has a confident rider on board, they can ride at the end of the buckle and she's confident and happy to plod along.

She isn't fazed around farm machinery or vehicles.

Mia has no nasties, have never seen her rear, bolt, buck - she is a genuine and kind natured mare who just wants to please you.

** Please note though being OTT she can get hot and forward, especially first bringing into work. Within a few days she is completely settles and is happy to plod along.

Mia is very hardy and a very good doer. Never have any issues with her in the paddock hurting herself or being destructive and doesn't require much feeding - she holds her weight very well. She is happy paddocked on her own or with others, she doesn't have any issues with buddy anxiety, she is very independent. She is happy to also ride with other horses, she's very flexible.

Mia is up to date with feet, worm, vacc & dental.

She is good to tie, float, trim/shoe

My only reason for sale is due to family planning and not having the confidence to get her working to her full potential as she is still adjusting to life OTT. Mia needs to go to a knowledgeable OTT home only with a confident rider, NO BEGINNERS!

Please note, Mia can become nervous/anxious when she moves locations, please allow settling time for her. I have put this down to her still thinking she's a racehorse and moving locations means race time!

Would suit pleasure hack, low level show hack, broodmare, companion.
