Introduction: Here Goes Hugo, known as Hugo, is an impressive 8-year-old black Warmblood x gelding by Entally High Expectations (Higgins lines) out of Jaydeeburke, standing approximately 16.3hh. He is an established performance horse currently competing successfully at 1* eventing, with clear scope to progress further. He is a quality, eye-catching horse offered for sale due to very genuine circumstances.
Education, skills and experience: Hugo is an established horse who is training 110–115cm in showjumping and cross country, and working at approximately medium level dressage. He has progressed from EvA80 to 1* in 18 months and has an excellent competition record with numerous wins and placings. He consistently produces dressage scores in the high 60s to high 70s, with a top score of 79.69%, and is bold and reliable across country while rarely taking a rail in showjumping. He is well exposed and not concerned by roads, machinery, livestock or dogs.
General demeanour under saddle: Hugo is forward, willing and responsive, with good collection and a quality feel in the contact. He is generally calm and reliable but due to his age, is not completely unflappable. He is very well educated for his age.
Handling: Hugo is easy to catch, well mannered and straightforward to handle. He leads calmly, ties up without fuss, loads and travels well, and is easy to wash. He is good for the vet and farrier.
Behaviour: Hugo is a friendly, affectionate horse who enjoys attention and is reliable both in and out of work. He settles easily at competitions and is a straightforward horse to manage in different environments.
Current workload / fitness: Hugo is currently in full work and ridden five or more times per week. He is actively competing and fit, while still remaining safe and sensible, including after a spell.
Feeding and management: Hugo is currently fed Hygain Balanced, along with copra, Speedi Beet and lucerne chaff. He can be kept on his own or with other horses nearby and has shown good adaptability when moving between homes.
Medical history: Hugo has no management or medical issues. He was last vaccinated in August 2025, had his dental completed in September 2025 and is currently shod. A vet check is welcome.
Rider Suitability: Hugo is best suited to a capable rider and aged 18 and over due to his size and age.
Reason for sale: Hugo is offered for sale due to his rider developing degenerative back issues, preventing her from continuing to jump and event. She would love to see Hugo being enjoyed and continuing to develop. He would be equally happy in a competitive or an amateur type home.
