Mahi Mahi (Mia)
Written Tycoon x Miss Wahoo
5yo approx 15.2hh bay mare
Mia retired from a short and pitiful racing career in late November 2025 and begun her retraining after a spell. Mia was supposed to be my next eventer, however, she likes to live life in the slow lane so may not suit high level competition but would make an excellent dressage or show jumping horse or low level eventer.
Mia has been to pony club and on off-property adventures with a mate and has not shown any separation anxiety. Mia catches you in the paddock, stands perfectly for the farrier and is easy to worm. She has been ridden inside an indoor arena with mirrors and horses in yards next door and was not phased by them in the slightest.
Mia is a dream on the ground with well established groundwork in line with equitation science. She has a lovely snaffle mouth and stands quite well to be mounted and dismounted inside and outside the arena (even off of a picnic table!). She has also begun responding to seat aids, has established rein back and is practicing leg and shoulder yields. She has jumped up to 70cm, is not phased by dazzle boards and has popped over some xc fences. She has been walked over some working equitation obstacles as well. Although Mia is quiet for a young ottb, she is still very green and looks to her rider for support and guidance. She needs an experienced, confident rider with soft hands. She would be a perfect first ottb for a confident teenager or small adult. Mia would also make a lovely therapy horse, broodmare or recip mare.
Mia has a parrot mouth but it is easily managed with dentals and does not inhibit her ability to eat hard feed or hay from a slow feeder net, a veterinary report can be provided to interested parties.
Mia's feet were in poor shape when she came to us and we have been working closely with our farrier to find the best way to keep her comfortable and supported while her hooves grow and shape up. She has had some setbacks while adjusting to her new feet resulting in periods where she was out of work for a couple weeks, however she came into work very easily without requiring a lunge beforehand. She is now comfortable in 3D pads with silicone and our farrier is confident that, given time, she will develop lovely feet. Unfortunately, my ageing heart horse also requires corrective shoeing and the financial burden has become too much to bear.
This is an extremely sad sale but unfortunately due to time and financial constraints I cannot keep two horses in full work on agistment.
Vet checks and viewings are welcome. Priced to ensure she goes to the best possible home.
