Introduction: Wally is an exceptionally well-educated 9-year-old gelding standing approximately 17hh, offering a rare combination of performance, versatility and temperament. Bred from elite bloodlines — by Baunehøjens Diamond Dancer out of Regal Tiarnah, a highly successful eventer and PSG dressage mare — Wally has been produced correctly and thoughtfully, making him a true allrounder for a competitive junior or amateur rider.

Education, skills and experience: Wally was produced by his breeders and competed very successfully to Medium dressage, with training established to Advanced level. His education has been carefully maintained by a Grand Prix rider (current owner’s coach), and his breeder recently confirmed that all his advanced work — including flying changes and lateral work — remains established.

He is considered an ideal horse for a Young Rider or Amateur aiming to compete Medium and progress towards Advanced.

Jumping / Eventing: With his breeders, Wally competed in 105cm showjumping and EVA95 eventing. He had a break from jumping for approximately two years due to a change in rider and their focus. In January 2026, Wally was reintroduced to jumping in preparation for sale and calmly jumped up to 1.20m with a professional rider, showing no freshness or tension.

The professional advised that Wally could compete 1.20m immediately and progress to 2 eventing without issue*, even offering to take him to a World Cup show. A novice rider also jumped Wally easily on the same day — he did not rush, spook or stop and remained soft and willing throughout.

Dressage / Showing: Wally has an outstanding record across dressage and showing. He consistently scores around 70% in Novice dressage with his current rider, has placed and won at State and National level and has an impressive Royal Show record.

General demeanor under saddle: Wally is willing, responsive and tolerant of rider mistakes. He offers a soft, comfortable ride with a beautiful, smooth canter. He is generally calm and reliable, though not completely unflappable. He may be mildly looky in certain situations but does not rear, spin, bolt or behave dangerously.

He requires a rider who understands how to use their seat and leg — if a rider attempts to pull him into a frame without riding him forward, he can become heavy in the bridle.

Behaviour in competition environments: At large Royal Shows, Wally became tense initially (as did many horses), particularly when on higher-energy feed. Once settled, he competed faultlessly with foot-perfect workouts. He is very settled in dressage warm-ups and happy riding out, warming up alone or in groups.

Current workload / fitness: Wally is currently in work and ridden three or more times per week. He is safe to hop on after a spell and does not require constant work to remain reliable.

Handling and general behaviour: Wally is easy to catch, lead and handle. He ties up quietly, is good for the farrier, vet and grooming, and is easy to medicate. He loads very happily onto a truck and travels calmly. Due to his size, he prefers a truck or an angle float and requires a competent handler for straight-load floats. He enjoys being stabled and happily comes in at night - he hates being cold!

Feeding and management: Wally is fed chaff and pellets. High-energy feeds may contribute to increased alertness at busy Agricultural or Royal Shows, though this does not affect his dressage performance. His management is flexible — he can be paddocked alone or stabled with turnout.

Medical history: Wally has excellent X-rays (August 2024) and no medical issues, injuries or medication requirements. He is up to date with vaccinations, dental and farrier care. Vet checks are welcome.

Tack and gear: Most saddles fit Wally well, without need for special type, fitting or adjustment. A rope halter is useful for groundwork and loading.

Rider Suitability: Novice to Capable Rider. Wally would suit:

  • A competent junior or interschool rider with support

  • A Young Rider

  • An amateur adult rider

He has been ridden - in a one off situation - successfully by novice riders and remains forgiving and well behaved. With any junior or amateur home, regular professional coaching is a must due to his size, talent and education.

Reason for sale: Genuine sale as the owner/rider is commencing VCE and does not have time to ride multiple horses.

Ideal home: A competitive junior, Young Rider or amateur adult seeking a well-established, versatile horse for interschools, dressage, showing or eventing. Wally is a rare opportunity to purchase a horse with this level of education, temperament and proven results.
