Introduction: The Hungarian, affectionately known as ‘Harry,’ is a well-educated 7-year-old 16.2hh gelding offering versatility across multiple disciplines. With a willing temperament and good exposure to different environments, Harry presents a lovely opportunity for a capable junior or amateur rider wanting a horse that can do a bit of everything.

Harry is by Snitzel out of Pretty Pins (Pins), these bloodlines are both proven and sought after for thoroughbreds that excel, off the track, in their new lives after racing.

Education, skills and experience: Harry has an established level of education and has been produced to be adaptable and genuine. He has completed low-level showjumping at club level (cavalettis and cross rails) and low-level cross-country schooling. He is familiar with lunging and has been exposed to a wide variety of environments, including busy stables, farm life and even beach outings.

Dressage / Showing: Harry works willingly on the flat and is responsive to the aids. He will collect when asked, though like many young horses he can take time and correct riding to maintain a consistent frame and contact. He puts in as much effort as required by his rider and aims to please.

Showjumping / Eventing: Harry enjoys jumping and has been schooled over small fences and answered basic cross-country questions. He is honest and straightforward, making him suitable for a rider wanting to continue developing their skills across showjumping and eventing.

General demeanor under saddle: Harry is willing, responsive and adaptable to the confidence level of his rider. He is generally calm and reliable, though not completely unflappable. He can be a little looky at times and may have a look or step sideways away from something, but he does not do anything silly or reactive and is perfectly safe at all times.

Behaviour in and out of work: Harry is safe to hop on after a spell and does not require constant riding to remain reliable. He is currently in work five or more times per week and is competing.

Handling and general behaviour: Harry is easy to catch and handle, leads calmly, loads and travels well, and stands quietly when travelling. He is reliable for the farrier and good for the vet. He is comfortable being stabled full time in a busy environment or managed with turnout.

Feeding and management: Harry is fed hard feed and is straightforward to manage. He receives supplements as a preventative only. His management is flexible — he can live in a herd, on his own, or on a stable/paddock rotation.

Medical history: Harry has no medical issues or injuries. Any supplements are given as preventative only and do not affect performance. He is up to date with vaccinations (Tetanus and Strangles), shod, and vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Tack and gear: Harry is light and happy being ridden in a snaffle bit and does not require any specific tack.

Rider Suitability: Capable Rider defined as someone with at least five years of regular riding and competition experience, with independent hands and a balanced seat. Harry would suit:

  • A balance and confident junior rider (under 18)

  • A young rider (18–24)

  • An amateur adult or mature rider

Regular professional instruction is recommended to continue his development.

Ideal home: A knowledgeable, confident home looking for a well-started young horse to enjoy across dressage, jumping and eventing. Harry would suit someone wanting a genuine allrounder with room to progress.
