Introduction:

Cosmo The Colonel is a well-educated 9yo Thoroughbred gelding by Snitzel with comprehensive experience in the eventing ring, including 2* starts and successful seasons at 1*. Currently competing 80cm with an amateur rider, Cosmo is a versatile schoolmaster type for an intermediate rider wanting a genuine partner for eventing, showjumping, dressage/showing and rider club activities.

Education, skills and experience:

Cosmo has an extensive eventing record and has had zero cross-country jumping penalties up to and including 1* level. He is currently out and about competing successfully at EVA80 with an amateur rider. He would happily and confidently return to competing at the higher levels.

On the flat, Cosmo is well educated, soft and light in a snaffle and willingly collects. He is brave and honest both cross country and showjumping. He has also been used for trail riding and swims in the dam. He is used to farm life and is unbothered by children and dogs being in his vicinity.

General demeanour under saddle:

Under saddle, Cosmo is willing, responsive, calm and reliable. He is light in the bridle, tolerant of rider mistakes and has the education to give a capable rider a lovely, straightforward ride. He has no vices or quirks.

Current workload / fitness:

Cosmo is in light work and is currently competing.

Handling:

On the ground, Cosmo is straightforward and polite. He is easy to catch, lead, tie, wash and handle for the farrier and vet. He loads easily, travels quietly and unloads calmly. He is unflappable in busy environments and is not concerned by traffic, farm machinery, livestock or dogs.

Feeding and management:

Cosmo is currently managed on one hard feed a day with hay in the morning. He can live in a herd, in a paddock on his own, completely on his own on a property, or be stabled, including 24 hours in a busy environment. He is also comfortable on a stabled/paddocked split routine. He is currently shod.

Rider Suitability:

Cosmo suits an intermediate rider seeking a capable partner for eventing and all-round activities. He has the education and background to support a junior or young rider stepping up the levels or coming off a pony. He would suit an amateur adult wanting a well-schooled, sensible type.
