Introduction:
Easy Tiger is a smart, athletic New Zealand Thoroughbred gelding with a strong performance background across eventing, showjumping and dressage. He is currently in work and competing, and offers the right rider an educated, capable horse with a quality foundation and plenty of experience. Over the last two years, Tiger has successfully competed to Medium level dressage and 110 showjumping.
Education, skills and experience:
While Tiger has previously evented to 3* level, he has not evented for the past two years due to the seller’s lack of time. He has, however, continued to compete successfully in showjumping to 110 and dressage to Medium level.
Tiger loves cross country is his favourite phase - and therefore most challenging for the rider - as he becomes very excited. Consequently, the seller is not seeking an eventing-focused home for him.
Showjumping is his most straightforward phase, making Tiger an appealing option for someone wanting to focus on showjumping and dressage, while still benefiting from his established education and performance history.
Tiger is very well educated, currently competing, and brings a broad range of experience to his next home.
General demeanour under saddle:
Tiger is a forward, sharp and sensitive ride. He is a fabulous horse with absolutely no dirt, but he is a responsive Thoroughbred with energy, education and ability.
Tiger can be looky and may spook. He may also react to rider nerves by becoming tense. With regular work and confident riding, he is reliable and has 'all the buttons'.
He is not concerned by typical farm life, including tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock and dogs. He is also not worried by busy roads or fireworks.
Current workload / fitness:
Tiger is in work and ridden three or more times per week. He is currently competing in showjumping and dressage. As with any performance horse, he is best suited to a home that provides consistent work.
Handling:
Tiger is easy and straightforward to handle. He is easy to catch, groom, saddle, wash, clip and shoe, and is reliable for the farrier and vet. He loads easily, travels quietly and unloads calmly.
Feeding and management:
Tiger is not suited to being stabled 24/7, as he does best with paddock time and the ability to roll and stretch. He can live alone or in a herd. He is fed a simple diet and is considered a good doer.
Medical history:
Tiger receives monthly pentosan and preventative supplements. He is vaccinated for tetanus, with his last tetanus vaccination recorded in November 2024. His last dental was completed in June 2026. Vet checks are welcome at a buyer's expense.
Rider Suitability:
Tiger is best suited to a confident, capable rider over 18 who rides regularly and is comfortable with a forward, sensitive Thoroughbred.
He is not suitable for beginners or nervous riders. He needs someone who is unfazed by the occasional spook, happy to keep him in consistent work and willing to continue with regular coaching or professional input.
For the right rider, Tiger is a fun, educated and athletic performance partner for showjumping, dressage training and adult rider competition. He offers a lot as a showjumping-focused horse, with the added benefit of a substantial education across the phases.
Reason for sale:
Work commitments limit the time available to ride and compete.
