Introduction:
Glenara Billecart, known as Leo, is an 8yo, 17hh Warmblood gelding by Glenara Sir Bollinger out of Glenara Daisy. He is offered in paddock condition due to his owner's lack of time and is priced accordingly. With experience to 1.30m as a 7yo and recent 1.00–1.20m starts, Leo presents as a talented showjumper for a capable and experienced rider who is happy to bring him back into work, continue his exposure and education.
Leo is a quality, big-framed horse with genuine jumping ability and a competitive background. He is not being sold as a ready-made amateur schoolmaster, but as a talented performance horse with scope, experience and ability for the right rider to develop further.
Education, skills and experience:
Leo has an established level of education and has competed with wins and placings. He stepped up to 1.30m as a 7yo and most recently returned to competition at 1.20m, with consistent rounds at 1.00–1.15m. He typically works on the flat in a full cheek snaffle at home and a Trust Combination at competitions, as he can feel a bit strong in that environment.
Leo is best suited to dedicated showjumping competitions. He has not thrived in busy agricultural show settings and finds it easier at jumping shows with less distractions. For a rider who understands this type of horse and can give him the right preparation, routine and exposure, Leo offers genuine talent and serious scope.
General demeanour under saddle:
At home and in familiar environments, Leo is soft, willing and genuine to ride. He willingly collects and can tolerate rider mistakes. In new places, he can be spooky and reactive, however, he generally improves with consistency and multiple days of exposure.
Leo is generally calm and reliable, but not unflappable; he does not love tractors or lawn mowers in close proximity. When fresh and heightened, he can crow hop and spook/ shy away from things that upset him but he does not escalate. Leo does not buck or bolt. He is not concerned by dogs or other pets.
Current workload / fitness:
Leo is currently not in work and is offered in paddock condition following his most recent starts in May 2026. He benefits from a lunge, before riding, after a spell.
Handling:
On the ground, Leo is well mannered to handle and load/ travel/ unload. He is easy to catch, ties up calmly, is sensible to groom, saddle and wash. Leo is reliable for the farrier and vet. He is safe to handle but, given his size, does need a capable handler and a little management when being led, particularly in new places where he may spook.
Feeding and management:
When in full work, Leo has been hard fed twice daily with hay offered through the day. He is flexible in his management and is happy stabled 12 hours/paddocked 12 hours, in a herd situation, or in his own paddock. Leo has been both shod and barefoot at different times depending on footing and surfaces.
Medical history:
Leo has a cosmetic scar on a hind leg from his yearling year and had rig surgery at 2.5yo. He was purchased as a weanling and as such as never been 'vetted' for sale purposes. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability:
Leo is best suited to an experienced showjumping rider who is confident with spooky or reactive types and has the time to provide consistent exposure and further education. He is best placed with someone who appreciates a big, talents (and somewhat quirky) horse with his own engine.
An experienced, adult rider with depth of skill, tact and confidence would be an excellent fit. Leo is not suitable for novice, nervous or inexperienced riders, but for the right rider he offers a genuine opportunity to secure a talented showjumper with scope, prior results and room to continue developing.
Reason for sale:
Leo is reluctantly for sale due to his rider bringing on younger horses and lack of time to keep him in work.
