Digger is a stunning type with above average paces (his canter is a highlight) who is beautifully put together and has a real look at me presence.
Digsy has low mileage with just 13 racing starts and wasn’t very fast, he has been off the track since Jan 2024.
Since retiring he has had a nice big let down, and has had some solid retraining, outings to ag shows and eqimillion in the led class, attended his first SJ comp, first dressage comp, and couple of SJ training days. He only started jumping 5 months ago which he has taken too like a duck to water! His first SJ comp he jumped 2 out of his 3 rounds clear (unlucky roll of a rail in the 2nd part of the double, which was the first double he had ever jumped) He is brave and careful both show jumping and cross country, he has a great shape over a fence and is very athletic. He hasn’t had an eventing start yet but has had multiple cross country lessons/clinics/schooling and is showing a lot of promise, our last clinic the instructor said she saw him being a star level horse!
Digs is easy to catch, float, feed, rug ect, he is perfect for the farrier (front shoes only and great feet) he is great to have away competing, camps well overnight and yards perfectly. He would not be suitable for a low level rider as he is a big and powerful horse with a few little quirks. He was a touch horse shy at his first few outings, but has improved out of sight the more he has been out, the last 3 group lessons he has been too, he showed no horse shyness at all, like a lot of horses he can have the occasional spook, this tends to be a little scoot forward and then he is straight back with you, within a stride. It’s never been anything more than this, he is not a dirty horse at all and this actually makes me giggle when he does it, but you just keep riding like nothing has happened and on he goes like normal. Currently living on a busy farm, exposed to stock, machinery, trucks ect.
Im really in 2 minds about this sale as I know this horse will go far - but also a big believer in things happening for a reason, so if the right home pops up then I am willing to part with him, A sale I know I will regret, however unfortunately I’m finding myself too time poor to have two horses in full work and also with me not being a spring chicken anymore and having ongoing back issues (been dealing with for 20 years) my body isn’t coping well with two horses in full work either.
Digsy is the real deal and will go far with the right rider, he will be a seriously competitive horse in the right hands and will be a high chance for a podium finish at equimillion or on any OTT series in your choice of discipline whether it be eventing, straight dressage or straight SJ. He loves also loves a hack out. Sound and in full work ready to go on with.
