Introduction:
If you are looking for a proven Interschools showjumping pony with the record, rideability and ring craft to help a competitive child rider step into the ring with confidence, Moondale Abbott is a very appealing option. Known as Banjo, he is a fabulous schoolmaster with a standout record at State and National level.
Currently competing confidently to 1.00m, Banjo brings the experience and education sought by families targeting consistent Interschools and Pony Club performance. He is forward, genuine and competitive, with the sort of results and exposure that make him an exceptional pony for a capable junior ready to get out and be competitive.
Education, skills and experience:
Banjo is a well-educated schoolmaster with EA registration. He is currently competing and regularly attends Pony Club, where he is graded C-grade for showjumping. He has experience to 1.00m in the ring and has also done trail riding, bareback riding and cross-country schooling.
Banjo is accustomed to farm life, stock and machinery, and is not concerned by dogs or other pets. His background makes him a useful, well-rounded pony for a child rider wanting a genuine competition partner, particularly for showjumping and Interschools.
General demeanour under saddle:
Under saddle, Banjo is willing, responsive and puts in what the rider asks. He is a willing and forward ride in the showjumping ring but is not strong. He adapts to the rider’s competence and has safely carried and taught novice child riders but he is a performance pony - not a beginner’s pony.
If not ridden forward, Banjo can have a look at something is genuinely warranted and does not have any other vices or quirks. He is best suited to a child rider who is balanced, confident and prepared to ride forward, rather than one who needs a pony to do all of the thinking for them.
Current workload / fitness:
Banjo is in work and ridden three or more times per week. He is the same after a spell or if ridden only once a week.
Handling:
On the ground, Banjo leads calmly and is reliable for the farrier and vet. He is currently barefoot. Banjo is easy and calm to clip. He is a pony character and is easy to catch, groom, saddle, load/ travel/ unload but can be pushy in a friendly way.
Feeding and management:
Banjo has one hard feed daily with access to hay 24/7. He can live in a herd or alone, but loves having a paddock mate and thrives where he can at least see other horses.
Medical history:
Banjo does not have any issues that affect performance. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability:
Banjo is best suited to a confident, balanced child rider aiming for Interschools success, particularly one ready to move up the heights in showjumping. He is competitive, willing and rideable, currently competing, and best matched to a novice-plus rider or above who appreciates a responsive pony with genuine competition experience.
He would be a fabulous choice for a horsey family wanting a proven, competitive showjumping pony who has already performed at State and National level and can help the next rider learn, progress and enjoy being in the ring.
Reason for sale:
Banjo is very sadly for sale as all riders have outgrown him.
