Quiet TB Mare

Ellie, 16hh 21 yo thoroughbred mare.

Elle is an amazing horse, I’ve had her 11 years and in that time we have been to a handful of jumping and dressage events and she has always been a superstar, she is the same at home as she is away.

She has done trails extensively and has always been great out and about, like any horse she can have a shy now and then but she is otherwise very quiet.

She can be pushy on the ground so needs someone who is confident in setting her straight and then she is fine.

Elle can be heavy on the forehand in the trot and canter so needs a rider with a bit of strength for this.

I have lead complete beginners and children off of her when she is in full work and had complete adult beginners ride her on their own around our paddocks at home. You can pull her out of the paddock after 12 months and she is the same horse. No work down or lunging needed.

Unfortunately Ellie does suffer badly from hoof abscesses, so needs to be shod at all times, even when not in work. She can be prone to injury and soreness so needs consistent chiropractic care if she is being ridden to ensure she is in the best health. Because of this she is being sold for trail riding and dressage only.

Elle is a marey mare and does get girthy, she will also walk away from you if you try to catch her without food, if you have a bag of bread or bucket of chaff she will catch you in the paddock.

She can be shod anywhere, sometimes we’ve had to travel to meet with our farrier and she stands perfectly.
