Introduction: Layce is the ultimate competitive showjumper schoolmaster. She is a delight to ride, handle and compete. Layce has been a National Champion showjumper for her last two junior riders - from the tender age of 10 - and has many years left to continue this legacy with a new best friend.

With Layce’s owner very sadly having outgrown her, this sale presents an opportunity for another young rider to benefit from Layce’s talent and kindness - she will step back down for her next rider while they develop their partnership.

Education, riding and experience: Layce is well established on the flat and would be competent to compete at preliminary level dressage. She is responsive and willing, making her rideable, adjustable and competitive on course.

Layce is competing 70–90cm with 95cm jump-offs. She is honest, trustworthy and brave, consistently careful around the course — the kind of scope and technique that builds confidence for a developing rider. Layce has schooled cross-country and is brave and calm. She enjoys trail riding and spending time with her person.

Layce is a true ‘junior’s schoolmaster’ — tolerant of rider mistakes and always aiming to please. She enjoys her job and will be more forward when asked, but is always 100% safe. Layce is proven to ‘come back’ and ‘go slow’ when asked to or for a less experienced rider. She is currently in work and competing.

Handling: Layce is patient and well-mannered on the ground for rugging, washing and shoeing. She is great for the farrier and easy to load, travel and unload in either a float or truck. She loves cuddles and affection. She does require a patient and calm vet and clipper.

Behaviour: Layce has travelled all over the country and is happy in big city and large show environments. She travels well — loads and unloads without fuss and eats and drinks well when away from home.

Layce is sensible and reliable to ride and handle. She has no vices under-saddle or on the ground. When fresh - overfed or after a spell - she can be a bit looky or spooky and may bunny-hop if a rider becomes tense, but she remains consistently safe and trustworthy.

Feeding and management: Layce is fed a simple diet of chaff, CEN grain free and hay. She is easy to manage and can be stabled or paddocked alone or in a herd but does require a companion in sight.

Medical history: Layce does not have any medical issues.

Rider suitability: Layce would suit a calm, balanced rider seeking a safe, straightforward and competitive pony. She was her rider’s first proper performance horse and stepped back down beautifully into that roll. We know that she will do the same for her next rider.

Reason for sale: Layce is very sadly for sale due to her owner outgrowing her.
