Introduction: Trevor is an 11-year-old bay gelding, approximately 16hh, registered as Travers and EA base registered, who retired from racing in December 2023 and has since been a safe, fun pleasure and trail mount that has also attended pony club and dressage competitions.
Trevor is by Exceed and Excel - a stallion known for being ‘a lovely, quiet horse to handle and easy to train. He was a fairytale, really’ and for passing these traits on to his offspring. Trevor is out of Common Smytzer by Snippets (Lunchtime) - a stallion line which is a proven producer of show horses and showjumpers.
Education, skills and experience: Trevor is well educated with established laterals, confidently jumping 50–60 cm, happily ridden in a snaffle bit, and has competed at pony club and adult rider club level.
General demeanour under saddle: Trevor is confident and easy on a trail, willing and responsive, willingly collects and is non-reactive unless something major happens.
Current workload / fitness: Trevor is currently in light work and is ridden one or two times a week.
Handling: Trevor is easy to catch, well mannered on the ground, leads calmly and willingly, ties up happily and calmly, is easy to wash, and is reliable for the farrier and when picking out feet.
Behaviour: Trevor has no vices. He can be tense - in busy competition environments or when ridden by a nervous rider. However, he is relaxed with a confident rider and is more settled with each outing.
Feeding and management: Trevor is a good doer and currently lives on grass only. He can be kept in a herd situation or paddocked alone provided he can see another horse, and must have a companion within sight.
Medical history: He has scars that do not affect performance and is shod. Vet checks can be done at the potential buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability: Trevor suits a confident and relaxed intermediate rider who has ridden and competed regularly for at least three years.
Reason for sale: Trevor is being sold due to a need to reduce numbers.
