Introduction: A super quality (and super cute!) 13hh Welsh B with genuine results across pony club and the interschool circuit, Valley View Shogun is a versatile, competitive type with the education to step into dressage/showing, show jumping and eventing. Willing, responsive and well-produced, he’s a smart option for a capable junior who wants a fun, competitive multi-discipline partner.

Education, skills and experience: Russell is currently competing and has placed at National level. He is well educated with extensive education and experience - low-level jump and cross-country schooling, working equitation-style obstacles, trail riding, beach and swimming. He has also been exposed to busy roads, farm life, dogs and the general commotion around children.

General demeanour under saddle: Russell is willing and responsive with a forward, sharp way of going, while tolerant of rider mistakes. He suits a confident, thinking rider who enjoys an energetic feel and appreciates a pony with some blood.

Current workload / fitness: Russell is in work and ridden three or more times per week. He is safe to hop on after a spell and does not require daily riding to remain reliable.

Handling: Russell is easy and straightforward to handle: self-loads and travels well, stands quietly, clips and washes easily, and is good for the vet and farrier. Well mannered on the ground, with occasional 'attitude'. He is shod in front only.

Feeding and management: Russell is on hard feed with salt and ample hay. Managed in a paddock; best with a companion within sight.

Medical history: No known current or past medical issues reported. Vaccinations up to date . Last dental March 2026. Recent radiographs (within 3 months) available; past vet checks available. Further vetting welcome at buyer’s expense.

Rider Suitability: Best matched to an intermediate child (under 14) or small teen who rides regularly under professional instruction and enjoys a forward, competitive pony with scope to do a bit of everything. Not a candidate for a nervous rider.

Reason for sale: Russell is very much loved but unfortunately its a case of  'perfect pony, wrong kid'. He was purchased 6 months too soon and proving too big and too much pony for a nervous child. A suitable, competitive home is sought.
