2026 - 3 wins from 3 Hunter Pony Classes
Introduction: Vancouver Park Super Nova, known as Jake, is a 10-year-old chestnut gelding standing approximately 12.3hh. An Australian Pony x Warmblood, he was bred by his current owners and dearly loved. He is a genuine, quality pony with a wealth of experience across showing, dressage and showjumping.
Education, skills and experience: Jake has an established level of education and is currently schooling novice dressage and showjumping around 70cm in lessons. He has competed at agricultural shows, pony club and HRCAV competitions, with multiple wins and placings, including three wins, out of three classes, in hunter pony classes this season. He is experienced in trail riding, low-level cross country schooling and is well exposed to farm life, showing no concern for machinery, livestock or dogs.
General demeanour under saddle: Jake is willing, responsive and adaptable. He is soft and light in the bridle and willingly collects. At home, he is a safe pony for novices and adjusts to the competence of his rider.
Behaviour: Jake is a kind and genuine pony without vices. However, in busy show environments, he may react to rider nerves or inconsistent signals by becoming looky or tense. Particularly when showjumping, he can become more forward and excited due to enthusiasm, while remaining genuine. He is not naughty, but benefits from a relaxed rider to provide reassurance.
Current workload / fitness: Jake is currently in work and is being ridden three or more times per week. He does not require consistent riding to remain safe and is suitable to hop on after a spell.
Handling: Jake is easy to catch and well mannered on the ground. He leads calmly, ties up quietly, loads and travels well, and is easy to wash and clip. He is reliable for the farrier, good for the vet and tolerant of handler mistakes, making him straightforward to manage.
Feeding and management: Jake is currently managed on pasture with oaten or rye hay morning and night, along with two small hard feeds daily consisting of fibre complete, lucerne chaff and mineral supplementation. He is adaptable in his management and can be kept in a herd, on his own or in a combination of stabling and paddock environments.
Medical history: Jake has no past or present medical issues. He was last vaccinated in October 2025 for tetanus and strangles, had his dental completed in March 2026 and is currently barefoot. A vet check is welcome at the buyer’s expense.
Rider Suitability: Jake is best suited to an intermediate rider - with 3 years consistent riding experience - and would suit a relaxed or confident child, junior, young rider or small adult under regular professional instruction. While he is safe for novice riders under supervision at home, he is not yet suited to a novice rider in a competition environment.
Reason for sale: Jake is offered for sale as he is too small for his current rider and the owners are reducing numbers. He is ideally suited to a home where he will continue to be enjoyed - for competition or simply for pleasure!
