Willow is looking for a knowledgeable, experienced home where she can enjoy life as a companion pony.

She has previously been ridden however, after spending considerable time working with her, I believe she is best suited to a non-ridden home. Willow is a sensitive mare whose behaviours are consistent with a horse that may have experienced previous negative trauma, although I do not know her full history. Over the past 8 months I have invested extensive time into groundwork, relaxation exercises, confidence-building and professional care. While she has made progress in many areas, I have been unable to help her move beyond the level of anxiety she experiences and no longer feel it is fair to continue asking her to be a ridden horse.

Willow is kind in nature and has never shown aggression or malice towards people. She enjoys attention, grooming and bodywork and gains confidence with those she trusts.

She can be reactive to her environment and requires calm, confident handling. Willow is food aggressive around high-value feeds when paddocked with other horses, however she happily grazes and shares hay without issue. She should simply be fed separately when hard feeds are given. She is happy living in a herd under normal circumstances and also settles well on her own provided she has neighbouring horses. Due to her anxiety, she is not suited to living as an isolated horse.

Willow is good for the farrier and is up to date with her feet, vaccinations and dental care. She is head shy and I have found pelleted wormers are the least stressful option for her. She also appears to have trauma responses to loud equipment, such as clippers and electric dental tools, so her teeth are currently maintained using manual dental equipment.

She has a club hoof however, this has caused no soundness or lameness concerns during my ownership.

Willow is currently recovering from a paddock injury. Her medication course has been completed and she is healing well, with only the wounds continuing to recover. I am happy to discuss the cause of the injury and her recovery with genuinely interested homes.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision. Due to my own circumstances and the time my other horses require, I can no longer provide Willow with what she needs. My priority is finding her a safe, experienced and loving home where she can simply be a horse.

A suitable home is far more important than price. Please contact me if you feel you can offer Willow the life she deserves. I am happy to

answer any questions honestly and discuss her known history in detail.

Willow will come with her winter rug.
