Introduction

If you are looking for a safe, highly educated and genuinely competitive dressage schoolmaster for a junior rider, Wynara Daydream is a fabulous opportunity. Known as Ollie, this beautiful 14.1¼hh Welsh B x Thoroughbred gelding has an outstanding dressage education, established competition results to Elementary and is training Medium. With his sweet temperament, impressive achievements and ability to adapt to his rider, Ollie offers the sort of schoolmaster education that is so valuable for a child moving onto their second pony.

Ollie is not just a beautifully educated dressage pony; he is a versatile, well-travelled and much-loved all-rounder who has enjoyed success in showing, eventing, Interschools and Pony Club. He is a wonderful option for a junior or small adult looking for a polished, competitive pony who knows his job, loves his people and has plenty to teach.

Education, skills and experience

Ollie is an established and successful dressage pony, competing and placing at Elementary level and training Medium. He has well-established lateral movements, flying changes in development and an outstanding canter. He offers a fabulous opportunity for his next rider to learn the more advanced movements on a pony who already understands the work.

He has competed successfully in Interschools dressage and combined training, attended week-long Pony Club camps and enjoyed success as a show hunter with a previous owner. Ollie is EA registered and holds an FEI passport.

While still developing his confidence over fences, Ollie has lovely jumping form and plenty of ability. He has trained to 95cm but is most comfortable around 65–80cm. His experience includes local showjumping competitions, combined training, one-day events and outings to Sydney International and Canberra International, with double-clear rounds and excellent dressage performances. He finished 8th in the EvA65 at Sydney International without jumping penalties.

Ollie would be a valuable addition to a junior's riding career, particularly for a family wanting to focus on dressage while still enjoying Pony Club, showing, hacking out and some jumping.

General demeanour under saddle

Under saddle, Ollie is willing, responsive and soft in the bridle. He happily works in collection, responds well to the aids, has beautifully established flatwork and is tolerant of rider mistakes.

One of Ollie's greatest strengths is his ability to adjust to his rider. He is sensible and accommodating for a less experienced jockey while having the education, responsiveness and quality to step up for a competitive junior. He is a genuine schoolmaster who enjoys his work.

Ollie is generally calm, reliable and straightforward, with no vices reported. For jumping and cross-country, he appreciates a relaxed, confident rider with some experience who can continue his education and give him reassurance when needed.

Current workload / fitness

Ollie is currently competing and is ridden three or more times per week. He does not require daily riding to remain sensible and is safe to hop straight on after a spell.

Handling

On the ground, Ollie is friendly, affectionate and well mannered. He is easy to catch, lead, tie, groom, clip, wash and handle for the vet and farrier. He self-loads, travels quietly and stands patiently on the float or truck. Ollie is straightforward to manage, loves attention and prefers having other horses nearby.

Feeding and management

Ollie is a good doer who is currently paddocked 24/7 on grass with a small daily hard feed. Hay is provided as required, with additional feed during winter.

He can be kept in a herd or paddocked on his own with equine company nearby. Ollie is also accustomed to stabling at major competition venues, including SIEC. He is shod and well behaved for the farrier and vet.

Medical history

Ollie is vaccinated for Tetanus and Strangles and is up to date with dental care. His owner is happy to share his veterinary history. Vet checks are welcome at the buyer's expense. Please refer to the Owner's Response Certificate for full information.

Rider Suitability

Ollie is ideally suited to a junior or small adult rider looking for a safe, competitive and beautifully educated second pony, particularly for dressage, showing, Pony Club and Interschools.

He is suitable for an upcoming novice under regular professional instruction and has the experience to help a child develop their position, refine their aids and learn the more advanced dressage movements. He is not being offered as a first pony.

Ollie would be particularly valuable for a rider wanting to compete successfully at Preliminary, Novice and Elementary while working towards Medium. He also offers the flexibility to enjoy Pony Club, hacking out — including road riding — and low-level jumping. For cross-country, he would benefit from a relaxed, confident rider who can continue building his experience.

Reason for sale

A very sad and genuine sale as Ollie's rider has outgrown ponies and moved onto a horse to pursue her eventing goals at 1* level.
