Perfect group trail riding buddy for your non-horsey husband. Standing at  approx 16.2hh, Jax is a rising 11yo standardbred gelding with a lot of love to give. He unfortunately doesn’t work out with me as he does not like riding out alone by himself which is what I bought him for. But in a group, he is the perfect horse to chuck anyone on and know they will be fine, a real gentleman.

Soft mouth, listens to seat cues, a real plod along however isn’t a kick along, happy to travel forward. He does have a big trot that nervous riders might find off putting but a confident rider will handle it fine. Although he is a pacer he has never paced under saddle with me, even coming out of a canter. Doesn’t mean he won’t though. Can canter with enough encouragement but I wouldn’t call it established.

His only downfall is that he is quirky to ride by himself, which is why I am selling him. I am happy to go into details with serious inquiries. Jax is the absolutely easiest horse to handle I’ve ever had. Brilliant to worm, catch, trim, anything. He is also a huge smooch, loves attention. A funny quirk of his is that he loves having his face held!

Jax has extensive experience of riding in the bush and out on the roads. He has been ridden in Hamilton, not by me but by previous owners. Stands to be mounted on the ground, needs more work on the mounting block but is almost there. If someone stands next to him, you can get on from the mounting block easily. No funny business, all he does is side step away.
