Melody is a gorgeous 12-year-old mare who has been a cherished schoolmaster in our riding school for many years. From flatwork, cross-country, and showjumping to trail rides alone or in a group—you name it, she’s done it. She has taught countless children how to trot, jump, and enjoy their very first canter, and has recently been leased by a 12-year-old girl.

Over the past 3 years, Mel has been a successful attendee at Matcham Pony Club and a proven ribbon winner at gymkhana days. She is currently graded D for showjumping, easily clearing 70cm at home, and possesses the presence and movement to excel in Dressage or Showing.

She is low-maintenance and does not require daily riding to remain safe, sane, and reliable.

Ground Manners & Care Melody has good ground manners, although, like all ponies, she can be cheeky at times. She holds her weight exceptionally well. She is barefoot (no shoes required) and a dream for the farrier.

She is easy to wash, rug, work, saddle, groom, and float, and absolutely adores being brushed and pampered.

As a typical mare, she values her personal space and needs plenty of room when around other horses, as she can kick if they get too close. Because of this, she requires a red ribbon in the tail at Pony Club. During group lessons, we place her at the back with space.

Melody is beginner-safe on the lead and lunge. Off-lead, she would best suit a novice-to-intermediate junior or an ambitious young rider looking for a partner to scale the ladder.
